也许，在法国人的心中，爱玛·包法利的名字，就和中国的潘金莲差不多吧。

爱玛长得还算好看，一直幻想着有那种轰轰烈烈的爱情。

可是现实却是，她不得不嫁给一个非常木讷的乡村医生包法利。

包法利简直就是一个轻度弱智，在学校就一直受人欺负。

爱玛在失望中打发着日子，不久认识了书记员莱昂。

两人有些暧昧，但却由于种种原因。

没有再往下发展下去。

莱昂去别的地方工作，也就离开了爱玛。

不过这种空白很快就被另一个男人的出现取代了。

地主罗多尔夫善于猎艳，很快就和爱玛勾搭在一起。

两个人的私情包法利全然不知。

爱玛也当了母亲了，女儿叫贝尔特，因为爱玛在一次舞会上听见一位贵族夫人管自己的女儿叫贝尔特，所以虚荣地就给自己的女儿也取了这个名字。

后来爱玛和罗多尔夫互相都厌倦了，两个人就算是和平分手了吧。

这时，莱昂再度出现，与爱玛旧情复燃。

两人又开始了火烧火燎的爱情（书中绝无三级的描写）。

可是爱玛仍不满足，总是梦想着会有更激情的幽会。

不过这种恋情是需要钱来维持的。

爱玛瞒着丈夫包法利偷钱出来供两人挥霍。

后来又借了高利贷，高利贷这种东西，利滚利很快就让人无法承受了。

莱昂也对爱玛厌烦了。

爱情失意的爱玛又遭遇高利贷债主的逼债，又恐包法利知道自己的丑事，走投无路之下服砒霜自杀了。

包法利在妻子自杀后在穷困潦倒中死去。

可怜的贝尔特，不得不开始四处飘零的生活，长大后只能到一家工厂去做女工。

这就是一个放荡女人的故事。

有时我觉得爱玛很可憎，有时又觉得爱玛很可怜。

包法利的确是一个心地忠厚的好人，但是让爱玛天天对着这样一个木头，也实在是……如果只是一味地对爱玛指责，是不是太站着说话不腰疼了呢。

可是，追求的爱情到头来却要了自己的命，也毁了包法利的一生。

究竟这是谁的悲剧

还是那句话，每个人对要对自己负责，不是每个人都有临阵脱逃的机会，非要等到走投无路陷入绝境才醒悟，伤害的，绝不是自己一个人。
